We need a volunteer staff to keep our newsletter going!
When you received the January issue of the St. Stephen's newsletter "The Open Door", you learned that the newsletter would no longer be mailed out on a bulk basis, but instead an abbreviated version would be mailed only to those who specifically requested it. Part of the reasoning for this is to help control our finances by eliminating the cost of printing, copying, assembling and mailing the newsletter to every household. Everything contained in the Open Door is available on this website, or at least it should be, if our Ministry Team Leaders keep our website administrators updated on current events and happenings in the life of our parish. But the bigger reason the newsletter is being discontinued is that we lack a volunteer staff to keep it going. It takes a tremendous amount of work to gather articles, information, and interesting info; put it all together in an attractive, easily readable format; copy, assemble, fold, seal, stamp and mail 90-plus copies. It's just too much for one person to do! So if you would like to continue receiving a printed copy of The Open Door, then consider volunteering, or help us find volunteers who are willing to take on this outreach ministry by being our editorial staff. Options may be to reduce the mailings to every other month, or even quarterly. Ideally, we would love to have a volunteer Communications & Multi-media Director and two or three volunteer staff persons to take on the minstry of Electronic Evangelism. This would involve handling the newsletter, keeping the website current, taking pictures at church events and posting on the website, and communicating with local media outlets (newspaper & radio) and the diocesan office about events and happenings at St. Stephen's.
If you have a passion for multi-media communications and public relations, or know someone in our church family who does, contact Father Ted at the church office. St. Stephen's needs your vision and imagination as we learn to utilize 21st century technology to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world!
