Help your Community on Saturday Jan. 16

There are many, many folks in our community that need assistance, including and especially the poor and elderly. Liberty Ministers United, an alliance of local pastors is sponsoring this day of Christian service and there are many ways to participate. Thrif-Tee, Wal-Mart and Brookshire Brothers grocery stores in Liberty have food boxes set up so that you may purchase and donate non-perishable food to the needy while you do your regular shopping. There will also be a food drop box in the parish hall. Monetary donations will be accepted through St. Stephen's (make checks out to St. Stephen's Church with "Day of Service" on the memo line). But we sincerely hope you will consider giving of your time to help with various projects around Liberty involving everything from clean-up to light repairs and beautification, to distribution of food to the needy. Ladies, we need help serving lunch to the volunteers. We will gather at First United Methodist Church on North Main at 8:00 AM on Saturday January 16th, and be assigned to a work crew. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. We will finish up around 5:00 PM. Please help us show our town what being a follower of Jesus is all about by giving a day of service to help God's people in need. Sign up sheets will be in the Parish Hall. We desparately need volunteers to head up work crews, so if you are good at organizing and getting things done, please sign up. We need you and God needs you!.
